We picked Richard up from work to tag along with us while we took Jordan to youth group last week. We picked him up from his activity, dropped Richard off and followed him home. As he left his work parking lot he did an impressive burnout to which Jordan replies "aw, I wanna ride with Dad!"
So funny! It seems that impressing the boys takes very little these days. The same night Caleb told us that they talked about who their heroes are in school that day. He said his dad! Talk about an ego boost. No wonder he is his hero, the guy can make Caleb laugh like no one else. Jokes like "Confucius say, go to be with itchy butt, wake up with stinky finger." Also making fun of how Mom says taco in such a "California" way. He tells Caleb, "How do you spell taco? T-A-H, C-O-H." I think Caleb laughed for an hour on that one. Lots of laughs around here lately. I love it. There is nothing in the world that sounds better to me than my kids really laughing.
On another note, we decided to try Concerta for Caleb's ADHD. I am totally at peace about it for once. It has made a great difference and it has only been 3 days. I am actually considering having Jordan evaluated for ADD. He has always fit the category of ADD without the hyperactivity/impulsivity. We have a meeting with his teachers Tuesday and I want to ask them what they think. Maybe I am just getting medication happy now?! Talk about a full turnabout. I went from "I don't believe ADD/ADHD is real and I would NEVER medicate my kid(s)." to seeing the real benefits and being happy with the medication at this point. It was the right choice. Not easy by any means.
Richard is in Florida for Daytona Bike Week this weekend and much to his disappointment, it is raining. Bummer. We are home having a fun Friday. The boys and I had a pizza from Costco, brought their mattresses to the living room and are enjoy The Princess Bride. We (they) get to stay up late and sleep in the living room tonight!! If they only knew that the biggest reason they get to do this is so that their mother can lay on the couch and fall asleep before them! I'm not that old but I do seem to get tired early and since Richard is gone it is even easier to give myself permission to go to sleep early. Speaking of going to sleep early, dinner is settled and I am starting to feel a little tired. I am going to hit the couch. Night, night. :)
