Yuck Town

We are in the land of the sick and so far, I am the only one to not catch this yuck. Hubby was down for 4 days and Jordan is working on day 5. Caleb just caught it 2 days ago. As much as I hate all of the sickness, it has forced me to stay home and I have been able to get a ton of stuff done! We have also had the pleasure of watching WAY too much t.v.
I would love to be able to say I have caught up on a lot of reading and Bible study homework but I have mostly done laundry a little decluttering and a lot of mindless time online! As much as I have gotten done I need to do more.

We are still trying to figure out how to manage Caleb's ADHD. Believe it or not, we are considering trying medication. One of my main reasons is his inablility to control his emotions. I am still concerned when I read about the medications but I also don't have endless amounts of money to go to child psychiatrists or places like The Drake Institute. Isn't it amazing that you cannot find someone who isn't dealing with ADD in some form or another, it is so prevalent, yet finding help costs thousands of dollars?? It is completely frustrating to me. The school says they can't test him, take him to his doctor. The doctor says the school has to test him. Finally, we get directed to a pychologist who we pay $500 for 2 measley visits of filling out papers, talking to Caleb and having him play a computer game to get told "yes, he has ADHD and you need to medicate him." That is truly the just of it. The doctors are more than happy to write you a prescription and send you on your merry way. You read about other alternatives, people and places that want to help and tell you that you shouldn't just rely on the method I spoke of above but then you find out how much these places cost and it is crazy. I am convinced that is why so many are on medication. What is wrong with our system??? I feel like you can't afford to do what is best for your child unless you are wealthy. And how much is this stupid medication??? What about those who can't even afford that or don't have insurance at all? That's my rant on that subject.
Hopefully we will decide soon. It has only been 3 years!

It is cold and rainy and I have to get some more done while I feel energized. I have to make Jordan try to catch up on his 4 days of school work that he missed. This should be a fun afternoon. :(
